I
have had cats for all of my life and Maxi is the sweetest, most loving of
all of them. She is at the door when I come home from work and is by my side
until I go to bed. Then she takes her place at the head of the bed. She is
very vocal and will answer any question with a soft meow. In the mornings,
she'll stand by the door as if she is pleading with me not to leave.
She reacts to words like: come on, no, food, and cookies (her treats). If I
put my face to hers she'll butt heads with me then lick me. She knows exactly
which kitchen cabinet has her food, which one has her treats and which one
has the dreaded cone collar. I have to put the cone collar on her to clip her
nails and she doesn't like it. If I go to the cone collar cabinet, she'll
hide even before I can get the collar out.
Maxi came into my life when my twenty-year-old cat, Gabby, passed on. I needed
another cat to fill the void. When I found out that there was a kitten that
looked like Gabby at a shelter, off I went. There she was, only five months
old, but already a very big cat with very thick paws. When I attempted to pet
Maxi, She bit me and ran to her food dish to protect her food from the other
cats at the shelter. Although, I wasn't sure that I liked her, I decided that
she needed a good home. So I brought her home. She was very wary of me and
kept biting me whenever I tried to touch her. It took months for her to
finally warm up to me and to stop the biting. Now she is a total Lap cat and
my constant companion and I love her.
So that's my Maxi and that's why I think that she is so special, especially to me.
