Pyewacket, the Cat of the Day
Name: Pyewacket
Age: Deceased, One year old
Gender: Female
Kind: Lynx-point Siamese mix
Home: Charlotte, North Carolina, USA

This is Pyewacket. Pye, as we call her, was our rescue kitten. Last year on my daughters birthday, we noticed this small white kitten under a shed behind our house. Caitlin, my daughter, set out to save her. Pye was very tiny, covered in fleas, and her eyes were caked in goop. Cait coaxed her from under the shed with tiny pieces of bologna. We brought her in, washed her tiny body of many fleas, and fed her with an eye dropper. For a week we were not sure if she would make it. However, she was a fighter and she did.

Within a month she had grown bigger and fatter and was part of our family. She was a feisty little girl, always stood her ground with our pit bull Maximus. They loved each other. Max would clean Pye and Pye would chew on Max's tail, the bond between them was amazing. She never strayed far from home, but she loved being outside. Unfortunately one week in April we tragically lost our baby girl. Her love of the outdoors cost us our beloved kitty. While outside one evening, a coyote came from the woods and took her. This night has haunted our family. She will always be in our hearts, though, with those bright blue eyes shining.
