We
got Minou (pronounced meenoo) in 1995 when he was a baby, and he grew to be
a family member until he passed on in 2011. The amazing thing about that cat
was his communication! His "meows" had "rolled Rs" in them and sounded like
"rrreow" which was really funny! It was really amazing how he talked to us
with his meows and with his eyes. When one of us entered a room Minou was in,
he would often greet us with his "rreow" or stretch to have his belly rubbed by my father.
One amazing thing he did was that, when someone pretended to slap me and I
pretended to be hurt, he would go bite the person! He also was very smart and
crafty. For example, when he did something bad and he knew it was bad, he
would stand outside the room and watch my mother's reaction. If she yelled at
him he'd run and hide. Or when he knew he wasn't allowed in a room, he would
try to be sneaky and go there walking with his belly almost on the floor so
we wouldn't notice :)
He passed on from a tumor in his stomach and I watched him take his last
breath. He is buried in the garden and we keep his picture on display with
other family pictures on the dresser. There are many other special things
about him that would take too long to mention. He really was a special cat.
