Cozy
was a stray that wound up at the Morongo Basin Humane Society in Joshua
Tree in January 2013. I had been volunteering for the shelter for almost a
year at that point, but going to visit the kitties had become very difficult
for me after having to say goodbye to my 15 1/2 year old kitty Dihedral. She
had been the love of my life for so long and sending her to the Rainbow
Bridge broke my heart.
When I finally had a few months to grieve over my loss of Dihedral, I decided
to visit the kitties at MBHS. A new kitty had arrived at the shelter and I
immediately recognized how beautiful she was. When I took her out of her cage
to pet her and play with her, she immediately plopped herself on my lap. The
sweet little stray was named Cosette by the shelter staff and they estimate
she was about two to three years old. I decided right away that this sweet girl had
picked me! There was no way I could ever turn her away. Although I liked the
name Cosette and realized the significance of the name, I decided that she
was meant to be called Cozy. Cosette is the name of one of the main
characters, a poor girl, in the novel Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. Cozy
suits my girl much better!
Our relationship was born and I'm so happy to have her in my life! She loves
to cuddle with me at night and we have fun playing ball together every day.
Cozy may have been a goalie in her previous life. :) She likes me to throw a
ping pong ball (or any other kind of ball) so she can intercept it before it
gets past her - just like a goalie! She is quite the character and makes me
laugh all the time. I know Dihedral would be happy to see me smile again.
