Alaska
is my Rudy's little kitten sister. When I found her and took her home,
I wasn't even sure if she'd survive. She was just a few days old, yet she was
already abandoned and abused. She was so tiny and weak. But these belong to
the past now.
Alaska chose her name; she used to cry a lot the first days when I brought
her home, she'd cry for hours without stopping. I used to read to her, and
when she heard the word 'Alaska' for the first time she just stopped, looked
me in the eyes..and I knew that this name was perfect for her. Soon after
that, she started recognizing more words such as 'Rudy', 'tuna', 'come here'.
She loves chasing Rudy around the house - thankfully Rudy is very patient
with her and doesn't easily get upset. She is very social with other animals
-she even grooms my cousin's hamster- but when it comes to humans..she's
still a bit scared. But she's doing much better than a few months ago. Back
then she wouldn't allow anyone but me to go close to her. Alaska also loves
sleeping on my neck, or under my blanket. When I'm sick, she never leaves my
side. She often climbs on my shoulder too, like a parrot. Recently we started
going for walks next to the sea with a leash and harness too, and she seems
to enjoy it as long as there aren't many people around.
I'm still learning about cats, I have so many more things to learn. But all
these months of living with these wonderful felines are way too precious.
It's like an amazing journey that is just starting. And I hope it'll last for
many many many years.
Alaska and her cat brother also have a deviantArt, where you can see photos of their everyday life.
