Tinkerbell
is such a joy. She came to help my darling Burmese boy, Puddy,
after the loss of his brother, Campo, in November 2013.
I'd adopted Puddy and Campo in December 2012 when their owners put them up
for adoption with a vet clinic in Sydney. They were fifteen at that stage and
they had been boarded for six months, waiting for their new home together.
As soon as I heard about them, I arranged for them to fly down to
Melbourne and within two days they had settled in and were so very happy.
Tragically, little Campo got very sick almost a year later and although my
wonderful vet and I did everything possible, Campo just went downhill and
had to go over the Rainbow Bridge. Puddy and Campo had been inseparable
all of their lives until then.
After the loss of his brother, Puddy fretted and looked so sad that I had
to do something, and fast. My other cat, Angel Baby, is pretty much a
loner, so Puddy had no consolation from her. After much deliberation, I
decided on a female Burmese kitten - one who was well socialised and
feisty enough to stand up to Angel.
Enter Tinkerbell! On day one she met Puddy, and by day two they were
snoozing together! She has changed his life. She is utterly enchanting,
and very naughty all at the same time. She gets into everything, climbs on
shelves and pushes things off. One afternoon she got into my office and
knocked almost every book and file on to the floor. Then she looked at me
ever so innocently as if to say "It wasn't me"...
She has the most beautiful big amber eyes and the sweetest little upturned
nose. She purrs non-stop when I talk to her and she answers back in no
uncertain terms. She has purrsonality by the bucket load. She and Puddy
play chasey through the house, take it in turns to chase.
Puddy and Campo had been inseparable for sixteen years, but the power of of the
love of a tiny kitten has melted Puddy's grief. To see them sleeping
together is beautiful. And to see Puddy a changed cat now that he has this
little girl with the biggest heart and zest for life is like a dream come true.
