Amber
was adopted December 30, 2011. We had lost a beloved little girl in
early December that year and really wanted to get another little girl. And
she is little - only six pounds (2.7kg). Everyone thinks she's the cutest little
kitten, but she is eight years old! And she's tough - she has to be!
Amber had been living at the (no-kill) shelter for six months when we found
her. She's so cute and sweet, we can't figure out how she went so long
without being adopted (but we're glad!) She's an orange classic tabby, with
the bull's eye pattern on her sides and "vest buttons" on her belly. She's
our fourth orange classic tabby from that shelter and they are all wonderful cats.
She loves her people and several of the other cats (Toby, Junior and Ty are
her favorites), but the other cats tend to pick on her. One cat, Quinny tries
to terrorize her. Which is pretty ironic because she's like a miniature
version of him. In some photos, it's hard to tell if it's Amber or Quinny
unless there's something to give the photo scale (Quinny's at least twice her size.)
Amber had been a stray, but quickly adapted to living in a house with regular
meals and toys!! When she discovered toys, she would remove each toy from the
basket one at a time. According the vet, she's a collector, so we put all the
toys back in the basket daily. That way, she leaves our stuff alone. Her
favorite toys are the giant rats. She carries them around in her mouth and
meows her triumph - which is funny because they are almost as big as she is.
And it's amazing how loud she's able to meow with those big rats in her mouth!
During warmer months, she loves to go outside and usually hangs out in the
best chair on the deck. We let her keep the best seat - she's earned it!
