Toby
joined our family on July 8, 2010. We had seen him on our property since
December, but could not persuade him to come inside until July. He was skinny
and had very dry, cracked toe pads after a long, bitter cold winter. He has
adapted nicely to having a home and plenty of food, but still has quite an
aversion to the cold. We guess he may be around six to seven years old, but we're just
not sure. He is one of the many boys who have been abandoned in our country
neighborhood, only to find his way to our back deck to peer in through the
French doors. He was definitely the most stubborn when it came to actually
crossing the threshold though!
Toby is most beloved by Amber, who has always loved washing his face for him.
And he loves to wrestle and snuggle with his adoptive brother Ty. He likes to
launch sneak attacks on Junior, our largest and probably most docile cat. But
most of all, Toby loves to snuggle on laps! He is most definitely a lap cat.
Which is one of the things we love most about him. He (like all cats?) is
absolutely angelic when sleeping on a lap.
The first year with us, Toby tended to overeat and was often referred to as
"Tubsy" or simply "Tubs", but he has chilled out and is back to a good
weight. But nicknames have a habit of sticking, so he's still our precious Tubsy.
