Patches
was a stray who came to live with me in 2001. My resident cat,
Kanani, had no use for him and was rather annoyed that she had to share her
house with this interloper. After trying very hard to win her over, Patches
went out and brought home is own friend, Mittens.
Once he had a friend he was content to give up his roaming ways and become an
indoor cat. He and Mittens like to wrestle, play and run around the house
like little speedsters even though they now have reached double digits in
age. Patches is a real purring machine and is my alarm clock cat. He also
knows when it is time for me to go to bed. He will walk back and forth across
my lap until I get out of the chair he sleeps in for the night. He loves tuna
and will purr up a storm to get some.
Patches likes the warmer weather when it comes because I leave the door open
to the garage so that he can go out on chipmunk patrol. They don't usually
come in but he waits and watches by the outside door in case they do. Patches
loves to sit in the windows and watch the birds or whatever is going on
outside. On cold days he can be found in front of the heater vent. He was so
shy and skittish when he first moved in but he turned into a real lovebug, a
lap cat and I am so glad he chose to adopt me.
