Ringo and I found each other at a shelter in Northern California
in 2004. He’d been abandoned by his previous owners when he was about
two and a half years old. I was looking for a female kitty to keep my 6
month old kitten, Shane, company when I was working, but Ringo caught my
eye and when the staff person brought him out for our initial meeting,
Ringo came right over to me and rubbed against my legs. That was it!
Unfortunately, he and Shane didn't get on very well, Shane harassing him
even though he was three times Shane's size! They did eventually work
it out to a mutual tolerance, though I did catch them grooming each
other a few times over the years.
Ringo was my big lover boy, sweet natured and affectionate mostly on his
terms, though. He loved to be brushed and we'd do "tchin tchin," he
lift his head so I could brush his chin, neck and chest.
Ringo developed cancer this past January, lost his appetite and dropped
a lot of weight in his last months. I tried to assist feed him, and give him my own cancer-fighting concoction (herbs, supplements) but
it was just too little too late. He crossed to the Rainbow Bridge on
April 20, 2015. I miss him terribly, his sweet presence, weight and warmth,
but he will always be in my heart.
