Meet
Simba, our Siamese cat. We rescued him from a shelter in Lancaster
California. He is without a doubt the most wonderful and lovable cat we have ever had
- and that goes back at least 30 years of caring for assorted cat friends in our home!
Simba doesn't try to be funny and adorable - he just is. He is a lover
cat and needs to be involved in everything we do every minute he is awake.
He gets very lonely when we go shopping for instance and greets us with
absolute joy when we come home - and then inspects all the packages to see
what's in them. He follows me around the house when I clean and generally
just gets in the middle of everything going on. Simba acts like we are
his mom and dad in many ways!
He is also very smart. Over time he has come to understand the time of
day (he nags to go out for his morning walk for instance if we are running
late) and he has us in turn trained us to respond to his requests. We
arise at 5:00am on most days - if we sleep a little late he comes and
starts nuzzling my hair and purring in my face to get us going. He has a
very lovable way of asking for what he wants, he just comes up and taps us
lightly on the leg and sits there waiting expectantly for us to figure out
what he wants. He will lead me to his food cupboard if he's hungry and
goes right to the front door if he wants to go out for a walk. My husband
Bill walks him two or three times a day on a leash for safety because we have
coyotes where we live - being outside for a walk chasing lizards and
stalking bugs is his idea of heaven!
As you might guess by now he is very special part of our family and quite
spoiled. We eat lunch and dinner together every day and he is a true
member of our family. We love him very, very much. He is so much fun
it's hard to remember how dull life was without him! We used to think
that the people who raved about their cats on Cat of the Day were
exaggerating about how great they were, but now we know what they meant!
Simba is actually a beautiful soft, furry, little bundle of love who
brings joy, love and laughter to our home every day!
