I
rescued Akito when she was about seven weeks old. She was taken from her mother
at around five weeks old. The guy that got her abused her in the worst way. He
would beat her, throw her into walls, and more. I heard from a friend that
this was happening and told her to take me to him. I went up to the guy and
told him, "Look, either you give me the cat and I don't call the police or I
call the police and I still get the cat. Take your pick."
He chose to give me the kitten. I was around seventeen years old when this happened.
I took her home and my mom noticed and told me I had a week to find her a
home. I have had her for around eight years now. Akito has some brain damage and
spinal damage from the two weeks of abuse. She also doesn't like men, and will
attack them. She is still my baby though.
Her favorite thing to do is to sleep on me when I'm in an uncomfortable
position. She loves her dangle toy. She is not allowed catnip though. I gave
her some and then ran out. She went through withdrawals. She opened doors and
cabinets and shoved things out trying to find more nip, she would yowl like
she was in heat (she is spayed). I was like "Great. My cat is a drug addict."
No more catnip in our house!
When she wants someone to play with her she will drag her dangle toy around
the house while meowing like she's in heat. And she won't stop until you play
with her. She can be very persistant! She loves boxes, too, as you can see.
Akito loves to get in the bathroom with me. If I'm in the bathroom and she is
not she will scratch at the door and let out a really weird dark meow type
noise and then go at the door like a demon. You know the movies with the
demons trying to get in the door? Yeah that is what it sounds like. Then I
let her in and she looks up and lets out a meow and walks in like she owns
the place. And every time I think, "How can a seven pound (3kg) cat make those noises?" But
she really needs to be with me as much as possible!
She is one of the best cats I have ever had. With any luck she will be around
for a very long time. I love her very much!
