Marilyn Monroe, or Mary Moo, is so named because of the big mole-like
mark in the fur on her face. She's a sweet doll who has lived through
several serious health problems. I took her in as a feral kitten I
grabbed off the street, and I advertised her sibling and her to a good
home (after socializing as best I could and spaying). A women wanted
both siblings, friendlier male for her little boy and Marilyn for
herself. I explained that Marilyn was very shy, and she insisted she
wanted a Calico and didn't care. I always ask adopters to please not
declaw, and if there's a problem, return to me rather than a shelter. Six
months later, she called to return her! "Too shy," she said.
Mary Moo was great when she came back, but was declawed in front (which
woman never told me and I didn't know til one day I noticed), and
apparently glad to be back. She's shy, but not THAT shy! In fact, she is
more social with strangers than 3/4 of my other cats! Sadly, she is badly
bullied by at least 3 other cats here. I protect her as much as possible
by allowing her to sleep in my room with only one other cat, Jack, and
the dogs.
Mary Moo got very ill and jaundiced at one point, and was near death at
the vet for a week. She got a feeding tube through her neck so I could
take her home, and it worked! Then she stopped eating and had to have
nearly every tooth pulled due to major gum problems, but she has
regained all weight and is good again. I feed her canned food in my
bathroom about 6 times a day, by herself. Maybe that's why other cats
mean to her? Jealousy? Anyway, she's a sweet, plump lump who is docile
as they come. I love my Moo.
