Where to start? Monroe came to us, along with his sister Mindy, when he was just four days old. Long weeks of bottle feeding around the clock turned him into a big, handsome boy. He is very affectionate and sweet.
What makes him special (and not in a good way) is that he has pica of the worst kind. This is condition that causes him to eat things other than his food. Items include (but are not limited to): paper products, almost anything fabric, shoelaces, human hair, his toys etc. He started at six months of age, and at times, this has been very trying for us. There's no known cure, and it's up to us to keep him out of harm's way. We have learned to keep things locked up and suspended in high places. Even if we leave the room for just a minute, formentioned items are fair game. He has learned to open drawers and cabinets, which have to have child (cat) proof locks.
Amazingly, he has never had a blockage, probably because he chews everything thoroughly and soaks everything in his water fountain to soften it up. One time, he passed a shoelace, the only help he needed was me carefully pulling it out of his rear end. His sister is perfectly normal, so I'm not sure if the early separation from his mom has anything to do with it. So, many destroyed bedsheets, towels, t-shirts, socks etc, later, he is still a member of our cat family.
We love him, and tell him he is lucky to be with us, because I'm certain, a nutty cat like him wouldn't be acceptable for some folks.
