Katkin was a feral I trapped when she was about a year old. She had a lot of the characteristics of a Maine Coon, long hair, ear tufts, kinda hefty, and a sweet disposition. In spite of having lived in the woods for a year, she quickly took to being an indoor cat. She loved to lay on the back of the big armchair by the window and look out, or just nap. At night, she would either be in my lap or right next to me purring away and enjoying being petted.
She would be waiting for me every day when I got home from work and would greet me at the front door. She liked to be near me, no matter what I was doing, and would pat my arm when she wanted a taste of whatever I was eating. She loved tuna, soy bacon and vanilla ice cream.
She was my dear companion for thirteen years. By the end of February, it became apparent that she was ready to cross the Rainbow Bridge. I held her as the vet helped her cross on March 2, 2016.
I miss my sweet kitty, but I know she's waiting for me, just like she always did.
