II got Cougar shortly after the disappearance of my first cat,
Scooter. I was 8 or 9 at the time and all the kittens looked
rather similar. So, shaking a box of kitty food, I attempted to
lead the kittens from their mother. Only one kitten followed me
and that was how I picked him from the rest. Cougar was named a
day or two after having him. For such a small kitten he could leap
from a chair to my bunk bed which is approximately four feet. He
has lived up to his name, having become quite the hunter
throughout the years.
Cougar is also absolutely fearless. He will
lie between my horse's back feet and play with his tail when the
other animals prefer a 5-foot distance from the huge horse. Cougar
can be very vocal at times and will talk back and forth with you
for a good while. He is very independent and during summer he
spends practically the whole day outside. On occasion he will join
me in my hammock. And as you can clearly see in the photos, he is
a complete ham. He LOVES the camera and the camera loves him. And so do I!
