Penny was rescued from the shelter at eight months old. I had originally gone to the shelter "just to look" and to try and convince myself to get a cat rather than a dog. I had never had a cat before and had always been a big dog person my whole life, but since I live in an apartment I knew a large dog would be more work than a cat. When I first initially saw her, she was sleeping. But as I walked past, she opened her eyes and meowed at me with her distinctive "yell-meow" that I've come to love. At that moment, I knew this cat had to come home with me. The photo of her on the green chair is from the day I met her.
Penny is named after the Beatles song, "Penny Lane." She is such a sweet girl. She isn't the biggest fan of cuddling like the other cat, Oliver. But she wants to be either in the room with me or right next to me. However, she lets me cuddle her (and she used to not cuddle at all) and doesn't protest. :') Penny's meow is so strange sounding, sometimes it almost sounds like she's trying to sing. Her meow is also VERY loud - you can hear her meowing from outside sometimes. She loves to sleep either with me on the bed or on the top of her cat tower.
I love this cat so much. Penny and I didn't start to get super close until the beginning of April, and I got her in mid-February. We liked each other, but now I know we love each other.
