After I had to make the tough decision of euthanizing my cat of ten years, Typsy - who was born on my birthday in the second grade, so very dear to me - I thought it would be a long time until I decided to open my heart to another feline.
One day I decided to make a trip to the local animal shelter and check out all the great cats and they had, with no intentions on taking one home with me. I walked into their cat room and spent some time playing with all the cats they had, but then decided to go look at the shelter's cats that weren't in the room, and I am so thankful I did. I looked into a cage that had two adorable fluff-ball kittens and they stole my heart. I decided on a whim that I wanted to raise one of these babies and have them be my new best friend. I chose the timid grey female kitten, which was fun in itself since I would not usually choose a grey animal as a pet. In short, I surprised my family with a very unexpected new roommate in March 2016! At first, I was almost regretting my spontaneous decision but looking back now I am so glad I took her home. She has become my cuddle buddy and beautiful baby, and I wouldn't change a thing about my decision!
Magnolia, affectionately called Maggie, is a high-energy kitten at the moment. She loves to steal socks and lay directly on your face when sleeping. Though a strictly indoor cat, she is very adventurous; climbing up on chairs and counter tops and into cabinets. It is always a nice surprise when you open the silverware cabinet to see a kitten inside! Maggie is very affectionate when she really wants to be! When she's not being affectionate, she is running around the house playing with any toy that is laying on the floor. She is a curious kitten and loves to check out my Guinea pig through the safety of its cage and occasionally my corn snake when she can see it move in the tank. Maggie loves belly rubs and head scratches and also loves to lay in my lap when I am playing video games on my console.
She is an all-around amazing little kitty, and even though fiercely rambunctious at the moment, she is still my little darling.
