Miss Mele Kalikimaka, known as Mele for short is very much a puppy cat and follows you from room to room. She is very attached to my husband and they go on walks every night. Yes, walks. It's hilarious. She loves treats and to be rubbed on her belly. She's very loving and loyal. We couldn't ask for a better pet. She may be slightly special spoiled.
We tragically lost another cat and after two weeks of being absolutely shredded to pieces my husband started looking online for another Ragdoll. I was not ready, my heart was broken. He found Mele in a small town three hours from us. She was already six months old and her name was actually Mocha. We made an appointment to visit her and my husband fell in love. I was just not ready. When my husband's eyes filled with tears I knew I was being selfish to not try and love "Mocha" and I agreed to have her join us. Mele is never allowed to be outdoors unattended ever. We are on her like a hawk.
She got her name because we love Kauai, Hawaii and we wanted a Hawaiian name for her. My husband came up with Mele Kalikimaka. Ha! She is a character. My husband and she play hide and seek in the house. She will sometimes jump out of nowhere with both of her paws and try to grab your legs. It is hilarious and frightening at the same time. She adores ping pong balls and kitty spring toys. She will chase them all over the house. She's not super affectionate or a lap cat but will allow you to hold her for short periods of time. She likes being brushed and her treats. She especially loves watching birds outside our living room window. I can't tell you how much we spend on bird seed because I'd be embarrassed. Lol. The birds are Mele's "pets and entertainment." She warms up to strangers when they are inside our house and will brush closer and closer to them but she is cautious.
We adore this 15-pound lump and are so happy that she shares our life. She just turned two on Sunday. She has more pictures on her Instagram.
