We were heartbroken when our little girl kitty Seal passed away from stomach cancer.
The following December, we found Selkie who chose us rather than the other way around. A selkie is a mythological creature who lives as a seal in the sea and sheds its skin to become human on land. Our Selkie is named in homage to Seal and we also liked the name!
Seal and Selkie's temperaments, howeer, are completely different. Both Seal and Selkie came from Humane Societies (Trinidad and Ottawa respectively) but Selkie is super confident. When she walks, the tip of her very long tail curves forward to touch her back and she is afraid of nothing.
Like Seal though, Selkie is very affectionate and a real sweetheart. She chirps and has a very gentle purr but we expect both her voice and her motorboat to get louder as she matures.
