Hi! My name is Mittens. I am a domestic short haired cat and I turn one year old today! From my pics, it's fairly obvious why my purrents named me Mittens!
My purrents got me from the RSPCA in Sydney! I was a Valentine's Day gift because I was officially adopted on the 14th of February 2018 (See pic of me on a pink towel - taken on day I got adopted). But I actually met my purrents in January 2018 when they decided to foster me and my sister Buttons (you can see her in the photo - the cat on the right) when we were only nine weeks old. My daddy always wanted a cat, but mummy said that he could only get a cat when he was 40 (i.e. ten years from now!)! Luckily, within a few days of fostering me, both my purrents fell in love with me ... mainly ‘cause I was a Purr Machine who would purr a lot the moment they touched my head or gave me chin rubs. Unfortunately, due to my purrents busy work schedule, they could only keep one of us, so Buttons was given back to RSPCA and put up for adoption.
I have grown exponentially since being adopted, mainly because I love food! My tummy never seems to become full ... my daily diet routine consists of a packet of Whiskas in morning, a bit of dry food left outside for the remainder of the day (but I finish it as soon as my purrents leave for work) and another packet of Whiskas at night. Wednesday and Saturday nights I get special treats like a packet of Dine! My mummy is vegan, but luckily my daddy isn't - so he sometimes cooks fresh chicken and fish for me! I love Salmon and Egg White too - by the way, did I tell you I love lapping milk and yoghurt as well? That's why my daddy weights me regularly and makes sure I don't get too fat!
I just experienced my first winter - luckily my purrents bought me my own igloo (see picture) that I can curl up inside and keep warm! Separately, they also bought me a fluffy black blanket than I can sit on. Friday and Saturday nights are mostly "Movie with Mittens" night - my purrents sit on the couch, place their legs on the coffee table and place my blanket over them so I jump on their laps for a snooze or to watch some TV / Netflix - ps: I love "13 Reasons Why!"
Since I eat so much, I need to work out and keep fit - my favourite sports is soccer and climbing up the trees in the backyard. My love for soccer goes like this - when I was just 10 weeks old, my daddy rolled some aluminum foil into a ball so I could play with it - but I soon got bored. Then, in June 2018 however, I found a new inspiration, thanks to staying up and watching the Soccer World Cup on my daddy's lap in the early hours of the morning. As you can see in the video on my Instagram page, I love playing soccer and want to play for the Socceroos one day!
I am a very smart cat - as you can see below, I help mummy when she is working and do calculations for her. I also know how to give Paw 5s (see my Instagram video). I also like sitting outside their window meowing for them to let me in! I am a very clingy cat!
Most of the day I just roam around in the backyard, climbing trees or hunting lizards! I try to keep away from birds though - they are always chirping and teasing me!. My next mission is to learn to walk 200 meters down the road to my grand-purrents house (my daddy's purrents). I love my Grandma! She is very kind to me and even lets me sleep on a large bed that actually used to belong to my daddy...
I really love my purrents and I know they love me so much too - daddy always says that I am his first daughter! I am so happy to be part of their family!
