Oreo was a stray cat my uncle found. She was looking for food in a dumpster when he picked her up and brought her to live with us. At the time I was very young and Oreo was a bit of an ornery kitty. She preferred to be outside and on her own, but she always came back for food and a warm bed to sleep on. As she got used to us Oreo became more affectionate, she liked to spend her time snuggling with my sister, but she always let us know when she had had enough attention. She was an excellent hunter and would often bring us her "trophies" to show off her impressive skills. As an outdoor cat we often caught her climbing trees (and getting stuck on the roof), wandering the yard, and taunting her freedom to the next door neighbors' cats who were strictly indoor cats.
As she got older, Oreo began to spend more time inside than out, and became quite the snuggle-bug. She began spending more time following me around the house waiting for me to sit down so she could curl up on my lap and be pet. Besides sitting in my lap her favorite place to sleep was under the Christmas tree, and we always made sure to leave a spot for her. She was the best cat I have ever had, and I am so glad we got to have her in our lives for so long.
