I absolutely adore my cat Peanut. Back in 2005 when I was in fourth grade, I asked my parents if I could buy another cat with my birthday money. My mom wasn't too thrilled, but my dad agreed, and one day in June we went to the local pet store. There were two black cats for sale, a boy and a girl, and they were from the same litter. I, being the typical girl, chose the female cat. I remember my dad saying I could get both, but I thought my mom would be mad. Thus I left with one cute, black kitten. It was raining when we left, so I put her inside of the jacket I was wearing.
She meowed all the way home, and I was absolutely thrilled. We got home and I put her in the middle of the living room. Me and my dad were late for meeting the rest of my family for dinner, so we closed all of the doors in the house and left (even though I didn't want to leave my newfound joy). At dinner we discussed names. It was my cousin that suggested Peanut, and although it was undecided the name when we got back to my house, it kind of felt right.
Since then she has been my eternal happiness. Peanut is the shortest (and most overweight) of all of my cats, which makes her even cuter. Her eyes are the prettiest shade of green I've ever seen on a cat (totally not biased). Peanut likes to follow me wherever I go, and seems to like me the most. Looking back, I would like to think that the moment of me protecting her from the rain with my jacket is what made her partial to me. She knows tricks like sit and stand, but only does them when a treat is dangling over her head. She falls over probably 80% of the time when she licks herself. :3 She also has a strange habit of sleeping in shoes. Peanut makes me laugh every minute of the day - whether she's running to the front door or walking out of the bathroom with a wet head from drinking out of the bathtub. I don't know what I would do without her; she somehow always makes me smile. I love her to pieces and hope to have many, many more years of happiness with her.
