We adopted Tarquin in October of 2005 after months of searching for an orange male kitten. Strangely enough, that year there seemed to be a shortage of orange male kittens in our area. He had been abandoned in a cage outside the humane society and he was not even weaned. They fostered him until he was about three months old and we found him right after he was put up for adoption. He was the first of many classic tabbies in our household.
Probably due to his early life, he's a bit of a scaredy-cat. He is our early warning system if someone is arriving on our property. If he scampers under the bed, someone is coming. He has kitty ESP - knows when it's time for flea meds or a vet visit or brushing. It takes two people to get him out from under the bed. He also has a keen sense of time - he knows when it's dinner time even when the clocks change for daylight savings time.
Quinny is a lovely cat despite being slightly cross-eyed. He was even featured in a calendar as a youngster. You wouldn't know it from photos, but he has the silkiest fur ever. Of course, the only people who have touched that silky fur are us and the vet staff!! He hates having it brushed, but prances around after it's done because he knows it looks SO good. We love our Quinny!
