We travelled 200 miles to pick up Griffin (a.k.a. Rum Tum Tugger) from a rescue organization in central Florida (South Lake Animal League). We had seen his picture on the Internet (bottom photo) and had fallen in love. It wasn't a wasted journey. He's been nothing but pure joy, with a heaping helping of naughtiness, from the very start. He will turn two years old in June.
He was just about the wildest, most playful kitten we'd ever adopted. As a kitten, he enjoyed bringing large LIVE bugs, lizards and frogs into our bed to show us what a great hunter and provider we had adopted. He still enjoys climbing the screens of our caged pool to go after squirrels and lizards. He has an entire vocabulary of chirrups, squeaks and musical sounds - each one means something different. I call him the Squeaker of the House. He also practices yoga as you can see in the photos. He will only drink from a tap, never from a bowl. He has the most soulful beautiful face, soft fur and bushy tail. He's a sweet loyal friend and we love him dearly.
When he is behaving naughty, I call him Rum Tum Tugger, from T.S. Eliot's Book of Practical Cats. The bottom photo is the Internet photo that made us fall in love, and the one above that is his first day with us. As you can see, he was already perfectly his yoga positions. I also included Griffin sprawled on my painting, I call that one "No respect for Art. "
