Lulu found us. A few weeks before 9-11 struck, this little blue/gray kitty showed up in our window flower box. She was maybe six to eight months old and kinda skinny. I came home from work that day and my wife Pam told me we had a little visitor. She pointed out to our deck and I saw the cutest kitten chowing down on some hot dogs. She looked up at me, stopped eating and came right up to me. She sure wasn't shy! I picked her up and saw that she was a little girl kitty. Rubbing her head all over my hands, she purred up a storm.
We got her a box and borrowed some litter from one of our neighbors. I think she wanted to impress us, because she went right over and used it.
The first week or so, she only came inside to eat and use the box. I think she was still deciding about us. We made her a bed under the deck table and put a tarp over it for her to rest on. I put a stick in the slider to the deck so she could come and go as she pleased. A week or two later I awoke to find her sleeping on my chest. I guess she decided we were OK and wanted to stay after all.
As much as I wanted to keep her, I was worried some kid was missing their kitten. I took pictures and put signs up in our neighborhood, but to my relief, no one came to claim her.
She passed on Valentine's day 2018 and it was one of the saddest days of our lives. Lulu gave us so much love and we gave her the best life possible for almost 18 years. We miss our little girl kitty so much.
