My cat Jazz is an eleven-year-old tortoiseshell female. She was gifted to me by my mother after my previous cat passed away suddenly. Jazz comes from a pet shop and I suspect she originated from a kitty mill because she was petrified of humans, even as a baby. So I always suspected she had not been handled or socialized before living with me.
She can still be a little skittish with strangers but now, of course, she's the queen of my house and thinks my entire purpose is to cater to her needs. She's not wrong, it seems I have adapted a lot of my habits so that she can be happy.
My cat doesn't like loud noises or sudden mouvements and thinks houseguests are the absolute worst. Don't even get her started about kids. Of course, I sometimes have people over or dance in the living room but she makes sure I know she's absolutely judging my choices. One of her most famous trait is the permanent semi-annoyed look she likes to offer.
Jazz can also be absolutely adorable with her constant need to be close to me at all times, and her favorite moments are nightly cuddles in my bed and trips to the bathroom as a unit. We have an outside squirrel that we feed and that is major entertainment and about the only time she openly shows excitement. Most of the time, she enjoys napping, silence and having me close. And so do I.
