Nigel is truly the best cat I have ever known. He was adopted about two years ago from the local shelter on kind of a whim and it has been one of the best decisions I ever made.
He and I have been through so much adventure in the past couple of years. He came home only a few days after my boyfriend and I moved in together and became fast friends with my boyfriend's dog, Carl. So though Nigel was born in Virginia, he currently lives in California.
When we moved across the country, he sat in the backseat of my car for five days and 3000 miles. He has traveled to 8 states which is probably way more than most cats. Every night he adapted calmly to whatever hotel room we were staying in and never made any complaints. At one point he escaped his (very plush) enclosure in the backseat and found his way up to my passenger seat. He got to enjoy that for a while, but did have to return to his enclosure for safety reasons.
He is the most social, chill cat on the planet. When we have visitors over at our house, he is right in the middle of it playing with all of the children even though they can be incredibly loud. In his entire life I have never heard him hiss or growl and he never minds being picked up or cuddled. He is most definitely a 'people-cat'.
He has been my best buddy during quarantine and spends most of his time either laying on me, laying near me, or attacking my boyfriends feet (playfully). He is truly a blessing and I feel that we were meant to be companions to each other.
