We share our home with two Siamese and prefer "active" cats ever since our best friends choose us to be "parents" of their special kittens. I was going to stop at two but then one day I drove through our small town and saw the sign "WE HAVE BENGALS" at the pet store. Something made my car turn around and go back to check them out.
There he was alone in a cage, crying the blues and wanting a home. His brother had been adopted a few hours before. I fell in love right away and talked with the store owner about the kitten and got the breeders name. I went home and got online to research them and decided that this little guy would fit in just fine with Siamese. After speaking with his breeder I decided to take him so two days later my husband and I brought our little guy home on September 4, 2004.
The Bengal cat is a result of breeding an Asian Leopard with an ordinary domestic short hair. Our Khan is 5th generation from the wild so his markings are like a leopard but he is mostly a domestic cat, has wonderful personality traits and is highly intelligent.
He weighed 3.5 pounds back then, he now weighs 14 pounds! He loves to play fetch with his toys, chases the other cats and loves to watch the birds and nature outdoors. He loves water and is always in the bathroom with his people. He purrs in the morning after we wake up and loves to be petted and brushed.
He loves catnip and enjoys the parties we hold. He's also a bad boy and won't stay off the kitchen counters! He gets into things he shouldn't and we have had to modify our house to prevent breakage:-) He is an "athletic" cat, runs very fast and doesn't always judge well when jumping. We love him dearly though and can't imagine life without him. I would recommend a Bengal Cat for anyone who love active cats who adore their people. >^..^<
