This is my Buddy. Thirteen years ago, a beautiful wild mama cat had kittens in my shed. Everyday I would go to the shed and visit with the kittens hoping they would not become afraid of people like their mom. I fell in love with the kitten with the black nose and black chin. He was my pick of the litter. To my dismay I came home one day from teaching school and found that the mother cat had moved her babies out of my shed. I was so sad and disappointed.
About a month later I was outside near the back fence when I heard a meow. I pushed back the bushes and there was the black-nosed kitten on the other side of the fence. I talked to him and he talked back. It took several days of conversing before he trusted me enough to come over to the other side. We've been "buddies" ever since. Buddy was bitten on his beautiful black tail by a neighborhood cat several years ago. The vet said blood was still able to go through the tail so he didn't have to amputate it. Sadly the tail is always dragging behind Buddy, except when he runs, then it goes round and round like a helicopter as he prances through the yard!! In this picture Buddy is sitting on his sister Rusti in the bathroom sink!
