Otis was the cutest cat in the world! He picked us at a shelter in Fort Worth, Texas. He did this by licking my finger which I had stuck into a cat carrier that I had (wrongly) assumed was empty. When I was shocked to feel the sandpaper rubbing my finger, I stopped looking at the cats in the other cages and peered down at Otis (then named Euripides). The search was over, as Otis picked us to be his new owners. Although he was technically a domestic shorthair, with his Holstein coloring, we said he was our "dairy cat."
Otis was very quiet and could barely meow. His meows were cute little squeaks, which is in direct contrast to his sister cat, a chubby Calico/Tortie/Siamese named Eve, who is the loudest cat in the world! Otis shared the house with 4 other cats, one of whom (Oliver) was strangely infatuated with stalking Otis. This leadsto lots of mini-fights, but otherwise they all got along quite well. Otis slept with me every night, and liked to lick my nose and knead the pillows. His other habits were sleeping, burrowing in shoes, playing with Q-tips and shoe laces and running away from Oliver (that little monster!). He passed away December a few years ago, but I will always remember my sweet Otis.
