This is Bailey. She is 19 years old and she is my baby. We only know her as a Domestic Shorthair, but have been told that she strongly resembles a Russian Blue. She currently lives with her family in Colorado.
Bailey has lived in seven states and two countries courtesy of Uncle Sam and the USAF. She was found as a kitten in North Carolina back in 2002 and from there she moved with us to Arizona, Montana, Italy, Texas, California, Illinois and finally Colorado.
In 2018 before moving from California at the age of 16, she was bitten by a rattlesnake in our back yard. Not only did she survive, but the following year in our backyard in Illinois she killed a bird. She is the epitome of, "You're only as young as you feel." She has slowed down a lot since the fall of 2017 and has hyperthyroidism and kidney decline. She is on special medication and special food, but her vet tells us, if she didn't know she was 19 she wouldn't be able to tell.
Bailey is the last of the three my husband and I had before we had children. (My oldest daughter is 16 and my youngest is 7.) Bailey's "sister" died in 2018, also at 19 years old.
I can't sing her praises enough. She's my baby, and I'm doing everything I can for her as she lives out her final years. I will be broken without her.
