After my latest cat called "Polly" passed away it was very quiet in the house. But to take in a new cat right away is not my way of living. But after a few month I noticed an advertisement in a cat's homepage.
There I noticed a cat called "Daisy." The owner was searching for a new home because of her toddler. Daisy was too friendly and became a problem. I contacted the mother and we almost instantly made an appointment because the owners of Daisy were looking for a new home and they wanted to be sure the new home was good enough
The moment Daisy entered the living room she was a little anxious. But the moment the owners left, I found her hiding behind a closet with her head behind it.
I didn't pay attention to her and she was anxious for about a week or two. Then she became more "visible" into the living room. But still with a distance. Now we are best friends and she talks (meows) a lot. She love to go sleeping on the bed at night. And the lady is the boss ;). She let me know what she wants. She does NOT like fish (raw or cooked). While eating she wants to be on my lap, or just on the dining table in front of me.
I renamed her to Sweetheart because it sounds like Daisy in Dutch. (Sweetheart is Liefje in Dutch and Daisy is "madelief" in Dutch)
She has a friend outside. A cat called 'Poes" who lives outside and can sleep downstairs.
They are in love (between the glass window). Don't know I will let her outside because I think it's too early. My house is big enough so Sweetheart can have some exercise and laying around on different place (on the closet, behind the window, on bed etc etc.
She has her own cat's room with heaps of toys (scratching posts, and castles).
She was born in Oman, and her former owner's sister took the cat with her to the Netherlands when she was working in Oman.
So Sweetheart has been through a lot in her past years.
I often send photos of Sweetheart to her former owner because it was for her hard to leave her at my house. The former owner is very happy that 'Sweetheart" has a good life with me.
