Sami
(short for Samantha) is a very special cat. My boyfriend says
she's one-third human, one-third dog and one-third cat. She loves
people and wants to be where the action is - unlike her sister Lucy who
goes off on her own most of the time. Sami will just hang around in
whatever room we are in and look at us with those big blue eyes. But if
you do pay attention to her sister, be prepared to turn around and see a
kitty glare at you - it's the look of jealousy!
I had two Siamese for seventeen years (a brother and sister) and I thought I
would never get over losing them. I waited two years before getting more
cats but knew they had to be Siamese. Sami and her sister soon won my
heart! Between chasing furry mice around the house and fighting their
way out of paper bags, I wondered how I had lived without them.
Sami loves projects - loud machines and tools attract her rather than
scaring her away. I went into the basement once to check on a repair
man and found her on his lap, both of them staring into the inside of
the furnace. Once I walked into the laundry room and found both her and
my boyfriend with their heads stuck down into the inside of the washing
machine.
While Sami is not a lap cat, she shows her affection in other ways.
When I turn into the driveway every day, Sami is sitting in the window
and appears to be waiting for me; when she hears the garage door open,
she's at the top of the stairs meowing to greet me. She loves her
supervised trips outside and gives those bugs and butterflies a run for
their money. She also loves chasing paint balls and acorns around the
wooden floors in the house - she likes it most at 5 am in the morning so
Mommy will wake up. And if Mommy doesn't wake up, she resorts to
bouncing across the bed (making one strategic hop on Mommy's chest)
multiple times, chewing on the wooden headboard (there are teeth marks
to prove it) and knocking everything off the bedside table, one thing at
a time.
She's a very photographic cat - she seems to know to pose for pictures
(as you can see from this shot). Her Grandmother thinks she showing off
those pretty white paws!
