Tiggy, the Cat of the Day
Name: Tiggy
Age: Four years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Tabby
Home: Pennsylvania, USA

We found Tiggy (like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh) hiding in the weeds along our driveway as part of a litter of kittens that was left near our house. We took her in and always marveled at her unique coloring (including the black rings along her tail and the orange blotches in her fur) and her tiny size. She's an indoor cat but quite the hunter, as she will sit at the window and watch the birds for hours... that is, when she's not sleeping on our clothes.

As for Tiggy, she's quite a catch ;) When we found her as a kitten and decided to bring her home to a then-puppy Nadia, who wasn't too keen on the idea of sharing the run of the house. Tiggy's very small and always has been, but she has very unique coloring, with orange splotches of fur among a beautiful tabby-like color. She's so much fun to play with, too! Sometimes when we go downstairs to get something and run up the steps we'll feel those little paws batting at our legs and we'll turn around and play with her for half an hour or more. She knows the phrase "I'm going to get you!" since it's usually followed by a quick jump toward her or a sly peek around the corner of the door.

One of her favorite pastimes is sitting on the couch doing some birdwatching, since we placed the bird feeder right outside the window where I can take pictures. She'll run the length of the couch every now and then which gives me the clue that something is out there running around! She doesn't like to get her picture taken because too much noise or activity scares her. Sometimes she doesn't even trust us when we come near her and she'll run away. Still, she'll sit on your lap for hours if you'd let her and sleeps for most of the day.

Tiggy has the most wide green eyes, and when she was little they were brown but slowly changed. She was a darling little cat then and now she can definitely trick us. :) She's an indoor cat because of her size but she's attempted more than once to run out, which she has done. She'll dart out the back door (never the front, I might add) onto the deck and down the steps and then stop, wondering what to do next now that she's gotten this far, which gives us plenty of time to catch her. Once she even broke right through the screen door and stood on the other side of it, a bit dazed and amazed with herself that she had actually done that.

She's one of the most curious cats and that's gotten her into plenty of mischief, but it's fun to watch her play and then to play with her! I included a picture of her when she was little in a sweater my grandma had made for one of my stuffed animals ... we put it on her and she just tipped over and sat there as we took a picture! As I've already said, she's not that photogenic, but being a hobbyist photographer I've gotten plenty of nice pictures of her despite herself.
