Ruby, the Cat of the Day
Name: Ruby
Age: Five years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Burmese
Home: Auckland, New Zealand

Hello, my name is Ruby and I am a Burmese princess. I live with my family in a nice house with a garden. My family- that is my mum, my dad, my two human brothers and my cat brother Vinnie. Vinnie is all black and he is my best kitty friend. Granddad and granny live here too - so I have plenty of laps to snuggle on. And I need a lot of snuggle time as I have such a busy life. Dad was only medium fond of cats when I came into the house but I wrapped him around my adorable paw allright. He whispers all kinds of nice things into my ear. I even talk to visitors, especially when they are cat people.

I have a lot of business here. In our neighborhood not everyone is as tidy as they should be. So I collect what people leave outside - stuffed toys, bathing shorts, underwear - and bring it back home. I can even push a (toy) horse through my cat flap. My mum is embarrassed, as she has to find the owners and give all the stuff back. (I still think she'd better open a shop - it would get more cat treats into the house.)

What I like best is going on vacation. My mum and I go to a small island and there I can walk with her to the top of the hill. I think it is very exciting as there is so much to discover. It is my own jungle. My mum has a special call, and when she calls me I come immediately - I would never want her to worry.
