Mr.
Myaggi is a very special cat. You can see that he is a Lynx Point
Siamese. He showed up at my home in Utah sometime in 2006. He had horrible
bilateral eye infections and he positioned himself into a high place in the
garage. My son and I, with the help of some veterinary medications, nursed
him back to health. As a complete stranger to us and we to him, he allowed us
to soak his little eyes open every morning with warm, moist paper towels so
we could get his meds in. He was so trusting, even from the very beginning.
When we finally got a good look at his eyes we could see that he is cross
eyed. He never left and soon worked his way into our hearts and our home.
He has always been sort of "dog like" ... he comes when called, if I'm away,
he will be waiting in the driveway for me when I get home. He is incredibly
affectionate and loves attention. He is playful at times. When he was
younger, he used to like me to "chase" him around the house. I moved from Utah
back to South Carolina in 2010 and he and another stray I had adopted moved with me. We
adopted the second stray as a newly weaned kitten and when she was little she
used to "nurse" on Mr. Myaggi and he would just lay there and let her. They
are still buddies to this day and they frequently snuggle up together and Mr.
Myaggi will groom her.
I was involved with the Delta Society when my Lab was alive; she was a
nationally certified therapy pet. I knew that Mr. Myaggi's personality was
suited for this type of work and so when I came back to South Carolina, I
started doing some volunteer work with Mr. Myaggi at a local extended care
facility. We ultimately had to stop after a stressful incident. My first
concern was always that I not stress him with this work.
I live in Lexington, South Carolina and have been back in South Carolina since April 2010 but Mr.
Myaggi originally came to me while I was living in Utah. His crossed eyes don't
seem to affect his vision too much as he still catches the occasional skink
or (horrors) a bird. And of course, he always wants to drag his catch inside
through the cat door.
I have had a number of cats in my lifetime, but Mr. Myaggi has been the most
fun. Unlike most Siamese, he is not a vocal cat at all. His crossed eyes and
his uber sweet personality are very special to us.
