Sue-Thomas
came to us as a unique looking little kitten full of energy. She
was initially thought to be deaf by the foster parent who was releasing her
to us. We named her Sue-Thomas as a parallel to the Television Program "Sue
Thomas, F B Eye" (a police show about an FBI agent who is deaf, and who
excels in her position despite her physical challenge). We thought this a
fitting parallel to the type of life we hoped Sue-Thomas the kitten would
have. However, upon receiving her into our home, we could tell within minutes
that she was in fact, not deaf. Nonetheless, the name had already stuck in
our hearts, so Sue-Thomas she continued to be!
If this history doesn't make Sue-Thomas's story intriguing enough, she also
happens to be a Tortie, or Tortoiseshell, which is a semi-rare genetic
disposition among cats, presenting itself only in female cats, but bred
through the male's genetic makeup of an extra Y chromosome. She is a very
special DNA stew indeed!
Sue-Thomas is an extremely vocal cat who "talks back" regularly, greets
people at the door, sits to get her treats, is a delight to play with, and
her best friend is the dog. They are buddies, and they play together
regularly. Most visitors to the home comment on how socialized Sue-Thomas is,
suggesting that "she thinks she's a dog." We even have video of her fetching
and bringing back her toys to be thrown again, and again.
Finally - Sue-Thomas loves to snuggle. She will snuggle with almost everyone
once she gets used to them, and her signature trait is that she sticks out
her tongue when she snuggles. We have enclosed a picture of this in action!
At the end of the day, the one fact that makes her the most special to us, however, is that Sue-Thomas is part of the family.
