Dora
came into our house when a cat-loving friend sadly realized that her
allergies trumped her love of kitties. Although she's four years old she's still
not much larger than a kitten and sometimes gets bossed around by our other
much larger cat. Her most noticeable trait is that she wants things her way.
She does give as good as she gets with our other cat and can certainly get
him to back off. If she sits on your lap and you adjust her position by a
nanometer, she will be off and return when she's ready.
She's loyal to her human housemates and her toys. The mouse toy shown in her
"kitten photo" has been with her since she was a kitten, although now it no
longer has arms or legs.
She's also sometimes called "The Supervisor" since she seems to have a great
interest in who's doing what and how they're doing it. Dora is a tough cat as
she has seizures every couple months which can be quite scary. We've taken
her to a couple vets who both prescribed phenobarbital. We have to give her a
pill in the morning and one at night. Initially she would fight it and would
often fool us into thinking she'd swallowed it only for us to later find the
pill on the floor after she had discretely spit it out. Now she's pretty much
used to taking the pills and it has greatly cut down on the frequency of the
seizures. During a few of the more intense episodes we thought we might lose
her but she's still patrolling the house making sure things are "just so",
and seems fine now. We sure love her.
