hane and I found each other at a shelter where he was still a baby and
had just been neutered, along with his brother. Shane was very outgoing,
coming right over to me, jumping on me and playing. His fur was just the
softest I had ever felt on a kitty, softer than our Ragdoll girl, Dori,
even had. I just fell in Love with this adorable little guy.
The day I took him home I had just moved into a new apartment and we
settled in together. I'd gone off to work and when I came home, I found
a "present" (a perfect poop) right in the middle of my bed, so
naturally, I nicknamed him "Pooper!" He never did that again, by the
way, he has always been a good boy with the litter box.
When he was six months old, he had so much energy and would get into all kinds
of mischief just to get my attention, it seemed. I decided he needed a
friend to keep him company while I was out working, and found Ringo.
Shane wasn't too pleased and kept harassing Ringo for a while, but they
eventually moved into a mutual tolerance with each other.
He grew into a good-sized kitty, sweet, affectionate on his terms, and
loved to play, chasing me around the apartment when I dragged the
feather wand around behind me. His fur just got softer and softer as he
got older.
We moved to Southern California where we blended my two boys with four
others. Nobody liked that very much and though they just tolerate each
other, there are still squabbles from time to time. Shane sleeps with me
away from the others at night. Since Ringo passed away, he's been a bit
more attentive and cuddly though. Shane also has an ulcerated right eye
which may need to be removed at some point. Still, he's a good boy and I
love him to pieces!
