Mittens was a stray until my cat, Patches, decided to bring him home to live with us in 2004. After Mittens moved in, they were both happy to become indoor cats.
Mittens is my guardian, always at my side wherever I am in the house. He sleeps on the pillow next to me or under the covers next to my back when he feels cold. He has a deep, low purr and on nights when I have trouble sleeping he snuggles close and purrs to help me fall asleep.
Mittens likes to join me when I do yoga and has perfected the side-facing cat pose. He must sit on whatever I am doing – reading the newspaper, paying bills or sewing costumes. He is a good boy and never snags any of the delicate or fancy material.
Mittens will only drink water out of the bathroom sink, I guess he likes to pretend that he is one of his big cat cousins the tiger and lion drinking from the watering hole. He will sit and snuggle on my lap but only if I have a blanket over me. He enjoys sitting in the sun in his window hammock or on his condo in the window watching the birds that come to our feeders.
Patches sure knew what he was doing when he brought this great guy home to live with us.
