I had had to put my previous kitty down due to kidney failure and was lost without her. I knew I wanted another fur baby and had been frantically visiting humane society sites and other pet shelters. I just couldn't pick and when I finally saw Chloe, I knew that was the one I wanted. The lady at the shelter told me no one could get her out of the cage to visit with and I started crying because I knew that was the cat I wanted. She was seven years old and her family had had to drop her off when they moved. The shelter took pity on me and was able to get her out of the cage.
Chloe was so scared and spent the first week hiding under the bed. I can only imagine her loss and fear of abandonment, but quickly she has taken over, ruling the house with her "cat smacks" (indicating she is done being pet), her "sphinx pose" with legs in front, her need to be propped up on the red couch pillows for "cuddle time" but not petting time (meaning, look, but don't touch the cat). Two years later, I cannot imagine life without her.
