This is Enzo, a Philly kitty. He was originally adopted by a family member who was attending college in that city. The first stories she told about him was how he used to run into walls, and try to attack her large dog back when he was a super hyper kitten. She named him after the designer of the Ferrari.
He's calmed down a bit now, but he still has the odd episode of the morning, or evening (sometimes both) crazies. He first came to me at the age of a year and a half, while his human searched for her first post college job. He went back to her after four months, but returned to me for good six months after that.
Enzo loves his life here: he can spend as much as 12 hours a day in a private back yard, roaming to the end of his tie-out, chattering at birds, chewing grass, and hunting rodents. He has compiled quite an enviable record: 27 moles, two chipmunks, and one baby bunny. No birds, though. At 18 pounds (8.2 kg), he's simply too big to sneak up on them.
If Enzo has a weakness, it's in the brains department. Just this morning he sat by the back door, and cried to go outside - during a thunderstorm. If it begins to rain while he's outside, he will stand it until he gets too wet to ignore.
As I said before, he has calmed down and has become a very affectionate cat - but on his terms. Cuddles are fine, and he will lay down and nap next to me. But he's not a lap cat, and doesn't like to be held for long. However, I wouldn't give him up for anything. In fact, I want to adopt another male cat to be a playmate for him.
