We found Gigi on Craigslist in November of 2014. He had been thrown on the street from his original owners, after they decided they could not take care of him and his siblings. A family who was not equipped to adopt a kitten took him in and kept him warm and safe while feeding him baby food (all they had) until we found him via Craigslist. He became a fantastic role model for our second cat, Kiki, when we adopted her in 2016.
Gigi has been a completely indoor cat since we have had him. This year, he went missing on Halloween, sneaking out off the porch into the wild of Lowell while we were airing out a smoky kitchen. We were absolutely heartbroken to discover he had run off, and immediately put up posters and posted in every "lost cat" Facebook group in the area.
Then 23 days later, on Black Friday, I pulled in my driveway after work and he was sitting right in front of our garage! It took a minute for him to recognize me, but he walked right up to me so I could pick him up and bring him inside. The following day he went to the vet for a check-up and we discovered that he was completely healthy, except for the loss of 2.5 lbs! (Quite a bit of weight from his previous weight of 12 pounds). It took only minutes for him to return to his normally purry, cuddly self, and he has barely stopped purring since!
These photos of Gigi, including some of him and Kiki, include a picture of him (right below this text) that I took while writing this nomination.
