This is Hazel. She is a Calico and did originally reside in Lynchburg, Virginia however moved with us to Poughkeepsie, New York. My fiancée acquired Hazel from her neighbor while she was at college who's cat had a litter of four kittens, he said he was simply going to "Put them out in the woods to fend for themselves," at a mere three weeks old. Luckily, my fiancée (now wife) Meghan has such a warm and loving heart that she took in Hazel. Hazel is such a cool cat and friendly to everyone she meets, she even tolerated Meghan's then 10-year-old brother chasing her around and enjoys playing quite frequently. She loves to lay in window sills, and thinks she is actually a watch-dog as she hops up on furniture to see what is happening outside and always greets you at the front door.
Hazel is truly one of a kind, and I am so glad she was saved by my fiancée all those years ago as she is such an intricate part of our family now. It is such a shame how people can sometimes treat animals, people like her neighbor who was going to put three week-old kittens out to "fend for themselves" should be put in jail, but that's just my opinion. Thank you for reading Hazel's story, she truly deserves to be honored.
