Percy is FIV postive and so lived in the shelter for most of his life. Because of the FIV, he was in a cage by himself much of the time. He came home on New Year's Eve six years ago. It took about 30 seconds of being in his new home to realize he had room to run and he races all over the house. He is learning to play with interactive toys and is turning into quite the acrobat. Percy is also starting to get in trouble as he gets comfortable exploring, which includes pushing things off shelves and dresser tops.. He is very affectionate as well. I named him Percy because he is a purring machine. He is an integral part of my life already.
The vet said he is very healthy and could live with his FIV for a long time. He does not need a special diet. He does need to be an indoor cat and an only cat. I also need to be vigilant about illnesses or infections. My previous two cats died young (cardiomyopathy and cancer) so I was not afraid to adopt a cat who might have a shorter life span.
