I am honoring my cat Chance. He is ten years old, a domestic shorthair and now resides in Douglasville, Georgia with me and several other rescues. He came to me at about six weeks of age and weighing nine ounces after he was trapped in a warehouse in the dead of winter and turned over to Anchorage Animal Control. He suffered extreme dehydration, starvation and frostbite and the vet said "Cindy, I wouldn't get too attached to this kitty" "Too late" I responded, "I already have". After months of vet care, treatment at home, lots of TLC, and a strong will to live, he survived. With the exception of his two front thumbs, Chance lost all his toes, most of his tail and half of one ear and has shown what a tough, true survivor he is. He is my sun worshiper as depicted in the photos I provided and takes advantage of it wherever it hits in the house.
Chance is not my first cat. He's one of many rescues who became a foster fail. He has a wonderful personality and gets along with everyone. He is a great source of comfort to kittens who come into foster. He nurtures them like they were his own. They absolutely adore him. He has several nicknames, Boo Bear, Boobers, Chancey Boo and comes running to each one. Well, not running exactly. Since he lost most of his toes and part of his feet, he actually hopes like a rabbit. He transitioned very well to the eight-day car ride down the Alcan with the other 15 cats and two dogs that came with. If I bring up the fish swimming game for cats up on my computer, he entertains himself trying to swipe them, and has actually gained points.
