This beauty is The Baby Lou. She isn't really a baby anymore but she will always be our baby. She showed up on our doorstep one day and never left. She loves to bask in the sun and lie on the solar pool cover.
Even with arthritis now she still turns into a rocket-cat and runs from room to room to look out the window at birds hopping around outside and she makes little chirpy sounds at them. She is very sweet and loving and especially likes to cuddle.
The Baby Lou chose to make us her family on election day in November many years ago. We were on our way out of the house that morning to do our civic duty to go out and vote and there she was just sitting on our doorstep. My husband said not to pet her - just ignore her and she'll go away. Well, we went to vote and afterwards she was still sitting there but we had to go off to work so eight hours later I was still thinking about her and sure enough she was still there when we got home. She looked so helpless that I just had to bring her inside. We fed her and cleaned her up and then we went around to the neighbors and asked if she belonged to them and when no one claimed her. We figured she was meant to be with us.
We had an older cat at the time that rues the day this little devil showed up to terrorize and chase her up and down the stairs. She was a ball of energy back then playing ping pong, hanging from the banister, and always leaping out to surprise and attack. Now The Baby is old herself and is down to one tooth and has plenty of grey whiskers on her chin and only occassionally plays with a string, bags, boxes, but she can still scoot fast if she needs to (like when there's a birdie or another cat at the window). Her favorite pastimes are eating, sleeping, and cuddling and on a nice warm day she enjoys basking in the sun on the solar pool cover as a proper California kitty. We thank heaven for sending us this angel - we love her a lot!
