Wrecks is the best cat I've ever known.
I found him on my porch one July when he appeared to be around five months old. I fed him for a couple of weeks and then late one night I decided I couldn't stand the idea of anything happening to him on the streets. So my roommate and I took him to my all night vet and had him checked out. He was a mess with ear mites and dirt but he cleaned up well.
While waiting in the exam room that night we were trying to come up with a name for him. My roommate was holding him and suggesting names and came up with "Rex", when suddenly the kitten started kicking up a great fuss. In moments my roommate's shirt was covered with... well you can imagine. We decided to change the spelling because, like the shirt, this cat wrecks everything he touches.
Even going on two and a half years old he still lives up to his name. If he gets his paws on a roll of paper towels, a newspaper, or even a phone book.. he shreds it. He's an excitable kitten still even at this age and he shows no signs of developing the least bit of grace. In fact, I sometimes wonder if he was raised by dogs before I found him. He's the only cat I've ever seen who loves to fetch. I can throw almost anything - a mouse toy, a ball, a plastic straw... and he will tear off after it only to bring it back and drop it at my feet for me to throw again.
When he's asleep he often twists and turns until he's totally upside down. Sometimes he twists so much that he falls off whatever perch he's sleeping on. He's a big fat lovable clutz.
