Evinrude is famous for his large size (in his prime, he weighed 18
lbs.), his impressively loud purr (he was named after an outboard
motor), and his extremely bad temper (he bites). As cantankerous as he
can be, yet he occasionally will be quite affectionate and allow his
belly to be rubbed. He also will stand watch over family members who
are ill, and will not leave their side until they are feeling better.
Unlike typical cats, Evinrude does not like to drink milk and he does
not mind getting wet - in fact, he often stretches out in the bathtub
and lets the tap drip on his head! He's very persnickety about his
regular food, but enjoys treats of sharp Cheddar cheese or Oolong tea
with cream and sugar. Perhaps his strangest quirk is his "eggs" - he
"mothers" four ping pong and golf balls and he won't get in his bed if
they are not there. His eggs go with him when he boards at the vet.
This photo shows Evinrude in his favorite After-Breakfast Sun Spot;
on the ivy plant by the patio door.
